Scooter came almost fully assembled. Basic assembly of the handle bars, power cord and cable line are required. While the power line is simple plug in and the handle bars slide in and require 4 screws, which was easy enough. The cable line had to be attached to the brake lever and that required more effort than was expected. You have to catch the cables sheath on the edge of the lever bar to get it to stretch after some forceful pulling. After that the fun can begin.
1 button controls all the options available to you. 1 press to turn on, 2 to turn on/off light, 3 to change from kpm to mph, 8 presses to turn on/off cruise control. 1 long press to turn off scooter. Scooter's engine kicks in after you start moving a little but will not engage at a stand still. It is a nice safety feature, just be advised you will not be able to test the scooter unless you can ride it a little bit of a distance. Once you get moving and give it some throttle, the scooter will pick up speed quickly and you will feel the acceleration. It coasts easily when at constant steady throttle or no throttle at all. It will slow down with breaking but due to the weight you will need to adjust for distance and speed.
The weight limit states 220lbs and I'm just a little over that and it still performed as expected. It reached 15mph on a nice straightway of about half a block but I'm sure my weight made it work more that it needed too. The acceleration was definitely noticeable and not sluggish, I could only imagine how much quicker it response to some one under the weight limit.
It does say its for commuting but its also good for short jaunts out or just to cruise around. You'll be able to be out for a bit with the 10-16 mile range. It doesn't take away from the fun factor but the weight is a hefty 30lbs and not something you'd be carrying around as much as riding and putting aside.
The scooter feels solid and sturdy. The platform held up with out any sagging and the handle bars and steering column had no wobble or bending. Tires are smooth riding and had great grip. To collapse you need to pull a knob and pull the release bar. This setup does expose you to getting knocked on the head if your not careful and probably needs to be redesigned.
Overall it is a good electric scooter for commuting and a nice long term investment. The only thing in my opinion is that if its going to be a main transport or long term use item, is to get the 300W version for longer distance and a bit more safety. I feel this is best used on a campus, a paved trail or around the neighborhood. It would require a bit more lighting, brake lights and stopping power to be safe near the streets.
Highly recommend for commuting and recreation use.
